From Shade Net to Greenhouse — The Cooperation Story of Nigerian Client John Udoidiong and MiilkiiaGrow
Client Background
Nigeria, located in West Africa along the Atlantic Ocean, is the most populous country in Africa with over 220 million people. Although oil exports have long been a major pillar of its economy, the government has recently been actively promoting the development of agriculture and manufacturing to diversify the economy.
Agriculture is a fundamental industry in Nigeria, employing about 70% of the workforce. However, many farmers still rely on traditional planting methods with rudimentary facilities and low efficiency, leading to a growing demand for modern agricultural equipment.
Against this backdrop, John Udoidiong began cooperating with MiilkiiaGrow in 2021. Initially, he purchased shade nets for snail farming. As his business expanded, John shifted his focus to economical vegetable greenhouses, hoping to introduce more durable and cost-effective facility solutions for himself and nearby farmers.
Client Needs
As the project grew, John requested customized greenhouse structures. He wanted to build a simple arch greenhouse with stable structure, reasonable cost, and easy installation, suitable for vegetable cultivation.
Traditional simple arch greenhouses typically span 6–10 meters with a height of about 3.1 meters. John aimed for a single span width of 12 meters and a height of 4.5 meters to better suit local climate and crop management needs. Additionally, he wished to equip the greenhouse with drip irrigation, fertigation systems, and other basic planting equipment to improve overall cultivation efficiency.
Miilkiia Solutions
In response to John’s requirements, we provided a customized simple greenhouse system. The arch structure is made of thickened hot-dip galvanized steel, with reinforced central columns and diagonal braces to ensure stability and safety of the 12-meter wide span under strong winds and heavy rains, with a service life exceeding 10 years.
The greenhouse covering film was selected based on practical use, choosing 150-micron anti-drip film or Solaring film, which offer excellent light transmittance and aging resistance. The design maintains simplicity for quick assembly, allowing John’s team to complete installation on-site within a few days.
For planting support, we supplied a water-saving drip irrigation system to effectively improve irrigation efficiency and significantly reduce water and labor costs. Considering the growing demand of local farmers for standardized planting, Miilkiia also flexibly provides fertigation systems, seedling trays, cultivation substrates, crop supports, and other auxiliary facilities, helping users smoothly transition from traditional agriculture to modern facility cultivation.
